I am honored to share that I have been included in the 2022 Points of Light Inspiration Honor Roll for my volunteer work this past year, including for the 20th Anniversary of the Eric ‘RicStar’ Winter Music Therapy Camp, aka RicStar’s Camp – Judy Winter named in honor of my son.
Since its inception in in 2003, my role with RicStar’s Camp has always been as a passionate volunteer.
I am incredibly proud of that 20-year commitment and the resulting hours of skilled professionalism freely shared.
Eric had cerebral palsy and a gift for music. He passed away far too soon at age 12 in 2003. His music lives on beautifully.
Points of Light (POL) is an effort committed to supporting and recognizing volunteerism and the remarkable change it can create in our world.
POL was founded by President George H.W. Bush to help showcase the role volunteerism plays in creating valuable change in our country and world.
I have always been a strong advocate of community volunteerism and I have been involved in such efforts most of my professional career, especially those that support children, education, and those with disabilities, including through RicStar’s Camp.
This particular honor supports one of my key beliefs, one stated on my website header:
I believe passionately in the Power of One person to make a difference.
All important change begins with one person with an idea and the passion to help make it happen, while serving to inspire others to take valuable action, too.
Thank you, Points of Light, for this tremendous honor.
I will continue to do my part to make a difference in this world as long as I am able.
So much work remains.
