Why is this seemingly simple statement so difficult for us to realize?
Why is it so complex?
Why does so much hatred still exist in our fragile world?
How do we fix what clearly ails us?
As country. As a world.
In our daily lives and interactions.
Lots of questions.
While so few answers.
As I reflect on this beautiful Sunday morning, including after the unspeakable attack on Paul Pelosi that we should all loudly denounce, I cannot help but wonder when enough will be enough?
Is this really how we want to live?
Is this the world we want our children and grandchildren to inherit and grow up in?
I sincerely hope not.
I sure don’t.
We need a serious gut check.
We need to take a collective breath and check our own beliefs and actions.
We are on the wrong path.
And it is up to each one of us to get us back on track.
To humanity.
To civility.
To respect.
Hate is never the answer.
Love is.
That’s what we need to put our energies into now, more than ever before.
And we need to do it now.
We can’t wait.
One thing of which I am sure in this moment is the following.
The real enemy is silence.
Deadly silence.
That falls on all of us to fix.
Please your part and speak up where needed.
And say a prayer for continued healing for Paul Pelosi and his traumatized family, too.
That would be a good, compassionate start.
Are you raising your voice when it’s needed?
