It’s that time of year when the Garden Moments blog is more about cleaning up the garden and grabbing those last floral bouquets.
The seasonal garden magic all goes far too fast.
This week, I picked what will probably be the last of the hydrangeas and cut flowers. Soon, I will again depend on my local florist to fill my weekly fix of fragrant, colorful blooms. I simple cannot wait until next year for more flower fixes.
Beautiful bouquets help cure what ails me all year long.
A few years ago, I began planting more evergreen plants and arborvitae in my front garden, in between all the colorful summer beauty. Not only does it add striking contrast, but when the winter chill hits hard my garden still appears to have life, while also providing shelter to the little birdies and other critters.
I love that.
In the next couple of weeks, I will begin fall clean up in earnest. It’s that time of year when I am a little unsure about whether or not The Farmer’s Almanac’s call for earlier cold and snow will actually play out.
But I want to be ready just in case.
Getting caught off guard with icy, snowy, cold October weather when you still have garden cleanup to do is a rough way to bid adieu to your sweet summer garden.
Been there. Done that. Learned from it, too.
Before we know it, it will again be time to showcase holidays gardens and wreaths.
All too soon. Good to start getting ready now.
Are you enjoying some final summer 2024 bouquets?
