Sometimes on Saturday, I like to dress up a bit from my usual casual weekend wear. Truth is, I just always feel better when I elevate my outfits. Mood enhancer.

And who doesn’t need that these days?

For this Sassy Fashionista, elevating my look usually involves something a bit girly and still comfortable. Something that can see me through some light garden cleanup and holiday porch decorating, playing in the kitchen with a new fall recipe, entertaining the grandkids, or saying yes to a last-minute professional Zoom.

Because I love dresses and skirts in all seasons, I’m often drawn to them.

I’m starting to wear more seasonal colors, while still embracing some fall-like layers. But nothing too warm because our Midwest temps continue to be a bit above normal for this time of year.

Big fall fashionista sigh. Too warm for me. I want to wear my big sweaters and UGG boots and coats. I love coats. But that’s not happening yet, so I’m adjusting.

Thus, the still bare feet in Birkenstocks in one of my favorite fall colors, green.

Because I am increasingly drawn to more upscale and refined athletic wear, this dark green dress from Athleta.com fits the bill perfectly! It’s stylish. The fabric is a bit silky, it’s a nice length, and it has pockets!!!

The piece is elevated, but it’s not too much for casual Saturdays. I like this dress so much that I purchased it in a vibrant shade of blue during one of the brand’s special promotions. I sized up because I find that Athleta, like many other sportswear brands, often run very small in the bust. Most need to do better in that regard. Not all athletic women have a small chest.

Just saying…

Athleta can run a bit pricey, so I go for their deals whenever they have them and my budget allows. That said, I find their quality and customer service exceptional, unlike some other over-priced brands that I refuse to buy.

Don’t get sucked in by fashion hype and logos. Paying more does not necessarily mean better quality or make you cooler. Too often it means that you are just paying more for less.

They got ‘cha.

Finally, I added a simple Talbots black cardigan to my dress for $10 from an upscale consignment shop, a sweet little gold belt for $40 from Anthropologie.com (which will get lots of wear), and my new green Birkies that I featured here a few posts ago. Some of my fav rings also made the cut, because rings are one of my signature style statements. So easy to change a look with even a simple outfit.

Just adorn your digits.

That’s it. My simple, comfortable, stylish Saturday Sassy Fashionista gear.

Do you like to elevate your fashion a bit on weekends, too, even if it’s athletic gear?
