This Sassy Fashionista has wanted to add a blue-floral-spring dress to her closet for the past couple of years. It was a desire first fueled by visions of a future trip to Italy, where I saw myself gliding down a hilly, cobblestone street of lemon trees and veggie markets, while casually holding a bouquet of the loveliest flowers in my hands, and sporting some new Italian leather sandals.
Or, some new blue Birkenstocks! They always work for me, as you know if you are a regular visitor to this blog.
Because I’ve put the brakes on buying more winter gear for 2025, my fashion hunt has quickly turned to seeking out all things spring and summer.
I’m thrilled to share that one of the first seasonal purchases I’ve made is a blue, floral dress from Anthropologie. It has fulfilled my Italian dream, so far.
Bella!! It’s so beautiful and feminine!!

It’s taken me a while to find a blue dress in the right shade, with subtle florals that aren’t too busy, too frilly, or too grandmama, of which I have seen far too many recently.
I like girly. But there is a limit to how much frou frou a grown girl should wear.
My opinion.
I found this Anthropologie Sleeveless Poplin Smocked Midi Dress with a solid top, rather than one with those too-thin straps that just don’t work for us bigger-busted gals. At least they don’t work for me.
This dress is like Italian-fashion perfection. It makes me feel so pretty and sophisticated and carefree!
Can you tell I’m happy that I finally made my big-blue-fashion score?
The dress was a gem hiding amid a rack of several floral summer dresses, some with way too much overpowering fabric. But I took one look at this simpler blue frock and thought just may be I could make this one work.
Into the dressing room we both went. No zippers. Just a simpler over-your-head design (which I love) that either works or it doesn’t. This dress was very well proportioned, and it had POCKETS, in which I quickly slid my hands before doing a little twirl!!!
SOLD. I got a medium.
At $168, the price was a bit more than I wanted to spend, and I did spend some time thinking it over. But I had a return, so there’s that, and I put other things I wanted back on the rack, maintaining my commitment to making more responsible fashion and budget choices.
It seems that I’m all grown up now.
I view this dress as an investment piece, one I can dress up or style more casually with sandals. I can wear it to dinner out, to a picnic, or to a wedding, or while playing serious writer at my desk as I weave words for my upcoming memoir.
Truth is, I like feeling all girly and stuff when calling on the word muse. It works well for this creative gypsy.
When I last checked, Anthropologie.com still has this dress in all sizes. But my guess is it will sell out. So if you want it and can afford it, I would act sooner rather than later.

Now, if only our endless winter weather would finally leave so I could actually wear this lovely, Sassy Fashionista frock of perfection. With some new floral Birkies, of course!!
Big ‘ol foot-fashion sigh.
