It’s that time of year when most of us start transitioning our summer gardens to fall, including by beginning fall cleanup. That includes me.
Where did the summer go???
It’s a bittersweet time for most gardeners.
This seems to have been an especially challenging year for many plants hit with molds and stress from the ongoing onslaught of heat and sweltering humidity.
I’ve no doubt that global warming is having an impact. 🙁
I definitely watered more often this year, in part, to wash away the mold and spiderwebs on so many of my plants. There were also days when I watered only at night after the intense humidity quieted down a bit.
I’m convinced I heard my thirsty babies moan with each refreshing drop of water.
The one star of the 2024 summer seasonal show was by far my Hydrangeas! I am so grateful for them. I will continue to add a few more varieties next spring. Truth be told, I’m running out of garden space! But I love how dependable and sturdy most of these plants are. They also provide beautiful indoor bouquets. I will miss their exquisite beauty this winter.
Today’s Garden Moments post includes photos of my plants/flowers in transition and various plant trimmings. That includes some dying, some still hanging on, a few in the trash, and the annual tradition of the addition of a few fall mums.
Thank goodness for the colorful mums that help extend the beautiful garden season by just wee bit.
As we transition our hearts and minds to fall, I welcome their vibrant colors. It helps ease the emotional garden transition process.
Good thing I love fall.
Has this been a challenging season for you and your garden, too?
